“When businesses support menopause, women thrive — and so does the organisation. Practical, thoughtful action builds stronger, more inclusive workplaces."

Siobhan Kearney

About Menopause NI

Our Story

Menopause NI was founded by Siobhan Kearney in response to the growing need for a more strategic, informed, and coordinated approach to menopause awareness, education, and support across Northern Ireland.

Menopause will affect every woman at some stage of life, yet support, understanding, and access to evidence-based information remain inconsistent. Despite increasing recognition of the impact menopause can have on health, wellbeing, employment, and quality of life, there is still no dedicated Women’s Health Strategy in Northern Ireland and limited strategic focus on supporting women through the menopause transition.

Menopause NI was established to address this gap by providing credible, evidence-based training, practical guidance, and workplace support that helps organisations, communities, and individuals respond more effectively to menopause. The organisation works to ensure menopause is recognised not simply as an individual health issue, but as an important workforce, wellbeing, equality and inclusion issue requiring informed leadership and meaningful action.

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve understanding, awareness, and support for menopause across Northern Ireland through evidence-based training, education, and practical workplace implementation.

We work with employers, leaders, managers, community organisations, and individuals to build knowledge, reduce stigma, and create environments where women feel informed, supported, and able to thrive during the menopause transition. Through training and awareness programmes, we promote open conversation, informed decision-making, inclusive leadership, and practical action grounded in both research and lived experience.

Our long-term vision is a society where women’s health is prioritised, menopause is understood and openly discussed, and organisations are equipped to provide meaningful and sustainable support.

Our Aims:

We deliver our mission through the following strategic aims:

  • To increase access to evidence-based menopause education and training across workplaces, communities, and public settings throughout Northern Ireland.
  • To improve understanding of menopause symptoms and their impact on health, wellbeing, confidence, and workplace participation.
  • To support organisations in embedding menopause awareness into workplace culture, leadership practice, wellbeing strategies, and people policies.
  • To equip managers, teams, and community leaders with the confidence and practical skills to respond appropriately and supportively to menopause-related challenges.
  • To reduce stigma and normalise conversations around menopause through informed, inclusive, and accessible education.
  • To provide practical guidance, resources, and signposting that help women access appropriate support throughout their menopause journey.
  • To contribute to wider conversations around women’s health, workplace inclusion, and preventative wellbeing through research-informed and experience-led practice.

If you want to be part of the conversation please do get in touch.
